Best of the best for elk hunting

I have two pair of the Guide Ultra boots. One pair insulated and one non-insulated. Hunting in Arizona is either up hill, down hill or side hilling. These are absolutely the best boots I have worn. The support with the inserts is unbelievable. A misplaced step on rocks does not turn into a twisted ankle. Well worth the money!

Not for rugged country, and wear fast

These are OK for everyday use on dry casual terrain, but are not acceptable for rugged country or wet conditions. There is no waterproofing membrane, and your feet get wet instantly on contact with any water. I tried to use them on semi-rugged terrain, and my feet began to tire after a few hours; there is just not enough support and stiffness in the sole to traverse rocks or steep terrain comfortably. They also did not hold up well - after only 3 days they showed extensive signs of wear with the toe cap pealing away and side stitching coming out.On the positive side, they are very lightweight and are relatively comfortable out of the box.I will probably try to find uses for these around the house or for light hiking, but without any waterproofing that will be difficult.I really can't recommend these for much. Instead, go with the Salomon Quests

Kenetrek should take their good name off of these and stick with making quality ...

Kenetrek should take their good name off of these and stick with making quality hunting boots for which they are famous. While they look nice, fit as expected and proudly wear the Kenetrek name they are anything but quality. The first impression is "Geez they dont come with an insole" but after checking the shoe they did have an insole, they just feel like they dont. I cant picture myself trying to stand or walk in these for any length of time. Sorry Kenetrek, two stars is being generous. Your quality reputation is on the line with shoes like these!
